The DeKalb County Horsemen's Association was incorporated as an Indiana Not-for-Profit corporation in 1940.  It's first by-laws described the Association's purpose of holding exhibitions, fairs and other events to promote the breeding, care and use of draft animals through education and public service in DeKalb County, Indiana.  It's members were draft animal owners or people that were interested in draft animals and wanted to come together for social, educational and communtiy service reasons.  The Association assisted at the annual county fair and sponsored many charitable events such as horse, pony and mule pulling contests, horse sales and donations of young horses to young adults as a 4-H or other learning project.
